Hydroxycut the weight-loss supplement is recalling 14 products after reports of liver damage and one death linked to the product. The Food and Drug Administration urged consumers to immediately stop using the products, which are made by Iovate Health Sciences Inc and marketed for weight loss, boosting energy and other uses.

A 2007 death of a 19-year-old boy living in the Southwest is linked to the over-the-counter diet pill, plus there are reports of 23 serious injuries. Consumers reported liver injuries including jaundice, elevated liver enzymes, permanent liver damage, and liver transplant. Seizures, cardiovascular disorders, and rhabdomylosis were also reported. Retailers nationwide must remove the products from their consumer shelves and people are instructed to stop using all Hydroxycut products immediately.

The recalled 14 Hydroxycut products, including :

Hydroxycut Regular Rapid Release Caplets
Hydroxycut Caffeine-Free Rapid Release Caplets
Hydroxycut Hardcore Liquid Caplets
Hydroxycut Max Liquid Caplets
Hydroxycut Regular Drink Packets
Hydroxycut Caffeine-Free Drink Packets
Hydroxycut Hardcore Drink Packets (Ignition Stix)
Hydroxycut Max Drink Packets
Hydroxycut Liquid Shots
Hydroxycut Hardcore RTDs (Ready-to-Drink)
Hydroxycut Max Aqua Shed
Hydroxycut 24
Hydroxycut Carb Control
Hydroxycut Natural

If you or a family member is injured by a product, you need to get immediate medical care. If there is a significant affect or injury, you should contact an attorney concerning the problem. Early investigation can include the collection of product, checking recall alerts, and the proper notifying of those who caused the problem.

Good to see another risky product pulled off the shelves. On an online community chat site, I saw a guy declare that he "eats lots of Hydroxycut". Those were his exact words and I thought to myself, what in the heck are you trying to do to yourself pal ? These type of products need more trials with longer run periods before they're release for sale to the general public.

What if someone has had no reaction to one of those products.. Should they stop taking them? Do you know if all the serious injuries/deaths were because the ppl had been on the products for the first time or been on them for a long period of time?

The FDA is saying to stop taking it immediately, so I don't think there is any group that can't be hurt with it's use. Thanks for taking the time to read and ask a question.

I'm in the USN and in the submarine force, there is times when we don't get to sleep so i was taking hydroxycut hardcore ever since it came out. Plus i was on hydroxycut when it still had ephedra in it. Which means I've been on this product for over 8 years. Do we know the long term afects of this? I've not been diagnosed with diabetes but i have noticed a lot more of the discoloration of skin among my legs, which i have been told is a sign of diabetes. Could this be a result of using the products? Plus when i get a cut now it takes forever to heal. Maybe it affects more than what is being said. I have 2 bottles left and going to take them back A.S.A.P. email me back with some advice as to what i should do? Thank you for your time.
